Hot Dog Roll

The Curve, Barbican Art Gallery, London, 2006

Hot Dog Roll is an object that has been screwed up to fit into a space to stress the idea of compression. It is a moment of sculptural stillness but it is also a paradox – the hot dog stand seems to have been in a crash but the surfaces of its apparently crushed form are meticulous and unscathed. It suggests a narrative but denies it at the same time.
