Face Lift

Saatchi Gallery, London, 1991

A dilapidated, typical English caravan was purchased second-hand. The exterior side panels of the caravan were then removed and an exact replica of the caravan’s form fabricated in steel, plywood and aluminium sheeting. The exterior side panels were then fixed to the newly built form, suggesting the form was a reconfigured existing object. The resultant hybrid was then dissected and one half rotated ninety degrees so that it laid on the floor. The two halves were then rejoined in its new, twisted form.
